Dedicate an Hour

Idea for fundraising for the Community Cancer Centre in Yiewsley:

Dedicate an hours pay to the Charity to help the centre help others on the cancer pathway...

We know this months pay is already spoken for - budgeting for the family is always a major balancing act in todays economic crisis. So much uncertainlity of work and future is apparent as the cutbacks take effect.

But what of the charities that are trying so hard to help others on the limited resources from fundraising and grant applications. As the recession deepens more problems are occuring amongst the community. It is well known that stress can often be the precursor for cancer. The Community Cancer Centre is seeing more demand for its services yet the funding of the centre is dire. The Community Cancer Centre was unable to secure another term of lottery money to provide for its core funding. Core funding being that of rent for the centre, electric, running costs and the need for 3 paid members of staff to help co-ordinate the volunteers and the centres reach out into the community with the befriending project.

So we have an idea.. For those in work - What if you dedicate an hours pay to the centre? You can do this as a private personal commitment or encourage your office, work teams to join in an hours work dedication. Let us know what you are doing to promote the centre at work, through facebook & twitter or on your blogs and websites... and then send the hours pay from the March salary to the centre...

You can donate direct, or through Virgin giving or Everyclick secure sites - and remember as UK tax payers the centre can get extra from gift aid tax contributions as recognition of your giving..
